Ok, I hate the title on this one, but I couldn't think of a good one so there it is. I have a few of this subject to post. This one is a bit more abstract and in some senses more attractive, but probably not a better photograph.

I came accross this interesting gem on a little park trail. I love the variety in texture and colour and the brain-like look of the stripped branch. There's a lot to enjoy in this one.

Arbutus trees never fail to impress and intrigue. They are a visual feast. This shot isn't too special from a composition point of view, but the colour is nice and I figured there was enough visual interest to post.

You would think I forgot that I owned a camera! Well I took a grand total of about 3 or 4 shots today... here's one of them. I like the black and white in the color photo and the form of the "spike". I hope I can resume this photoblogging properly soon...

I like the way this shot works. Its texture and simple composition with a nice splash of colour makes it attractive to me. the hole contains the least detail, but it is quite compelling.

In black and white this shot takes on a kind of unsettling and horrific character, particularly in the upper portion of the shot. I thought it was more effective as a black and white.

A day in Van Gogh's World

These shots make me think of Vincent Van Gogh or some kind of crazy world inspired by him or even perhaps that inspired him. I love the way the lines swirl and twist in a kind of coherent confusion. For me shots like this inspire both a wonderment and a slight uneasiness. I worked hard at not overdoing the contrast on this shot which would have been very easy to do as I fought the temptation was to pump it up higher and higher. I think I got it right though.

Here's another driftwood shot. These shots are some of my personal favorites. I like the great variety in the wood, with its organic forms and in various degrees of decay.
